MAP ANNOUNCEMENT
Come to the MAP meeting in July! We are going to be finalizing MAP's Vision. Furthermore, we will be deciding on a new approach to the Community Needs Assessment. The Committee's recommendation is to choose 3-5 of the following topic areas and collect, collate and summarize all existing data on this topic for the Mat-Su Borough. The topic areas are: Substance Abuse, Health Care, Transportation, Hunger, Affordable Housing, Homelessness, Family Violence, Employment and Training, Mental Health, and Family Support. Description: This two-day workshop helps adoptive, foster, kinship care,
and guardianship parents to understand attachment and bonding
disorders of children they have adopted or are caring for when they
have been abused and traumatized during early childhood. The
workshop also educates professionals who provide services to these
children. AABA offer certificates of Attendance (CEU's 15 hrs) if
requested. If you are a foster, adoptive, or guardianship parent, you
may be eligible for a scholarship of up to $100.( as they become
available). There is a place on the application that needs to be
completed. You will be contacted about the decision on the scholarship.
As the Agate Inn is charging based on attendees, there is a $50 non-
refundable deposit to hold your seat.
The Susitna Rotary Club (upper Mat-Su Valley) is organizing a campaign to collect coats for kids of all sizes. The coats will be distributed this fall. If your organization can accept and distribute coats, please contact Rotarian Cherie LeBlanc-Shue at 373-8763.
